Hifzul Qur’an Program (Memorizing the Holy Qur’an)

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ

"And I (Allah) have made the Holy Qur’an easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will receive admonition." (Surah Al-Qamar - Verse 17)

One of the means through which Allah has assured the protection of the Holy Qur’an is the fact that He made the memorization of His Book an easy task for the believers. In fact, the Holy Qur’an is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers. Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the whole Qur’an since the first day it was revealed as part of their love and devotion to the Book of Allah. The one who memorizes the whole Quran is known as a Hafiz. It is a miracle that the Hafiz not only memorizes the entire text of the Holy Qur’an, but also the punctuation of each and every word and verse of the Quran.

Abdullah bin ‘Amr bin Al-‘As (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said,

يقال لصاحب القرآن‏:‏ اقرأ وارتق ورتل كما كنت ترتل في الدنيا، فإن منزلتك عند آخر آية تقرؤها‏

“The one who was devoted to the Qur’an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.” ( Abu Dawud and At- Tirmidhi and Riyad as-Salihin, Book 8, Hadith 11)

This Hadith mentions the merit of those who memorize part or all of the Qur’an. Some scholars, in explaining this Hadith, have mentioned that the number of ranks (levels) in Paradise is equal to the number of ayahs in the Qur’an, and that a believer will rise one rank for each ayah that he or she memorizes.

In another Hadith, Uthman bin ‘Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah said,

خيركم من تعلم القرآن وعلمه

“The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.”(Al-Bukhari, Riyad as-Salihin 993, Book 8, Hadith 3)

Requirements and Criteria for Quran Memorization (Hifz)

At Madrasah Darul Aman Al Islamia, we strive to provide every student with the opportunity to embark on the noble task of Hifz. Initially, assessing a student’s Hifz capability can be challenging. Therefore, all students will undergo a 6-month probationary period to determine their ability. It’s crucial for parents and students to understand that completing Hifz requires an ideal environment. We gauge an ideal environment by considering the following points:

  • Consistency, patience, and effort from students, parents, and teachers
  • A positive learning atmosphere and disciplined time management at home
  • Appreciation, rewards, and incentives
  • A healthy routine
  • Strict avoidance of music
  • Extremely minimal involvement in multimedia and computer games consoles
  • Enthusiastic interest and involvement in memorizing the Qur’an, complemented by activities such as prayers, frequenting the masjid, listening to the Qur’an, and, most importantly, continuous duas.”

4. Hifz Convocation: Our Hifz Convocation is a special event celebrating the accomplishments of students who have successfully completed the memorization of the Qur’an. It is a momentous occasion, recognizing their dedication and hard work in this noble endeavor.

Admission Criteria

Pupils can apply for Hifz-ul-Quran if they are at least 5 years old. Successful applicants meeting the criteria will be offered a place in the Hifz Class, contingent upon the results of the Hifz Entry Test and the availability of spaces. The primary focus of the test will be on memorization and tajweed.

Those who pass the test will be offered a place in the Hifz Class. If they are unsuccessful or do not meet the specified criteria, they will be offered a place in the General Quran Memorization Course. Please clearly indicate on the application if you wish to enroll your child in this course.

Typically, pupils complete the full memorization of the Holy Quran by Year 10, providing ample time to accomplish a full dowr of the Quran, aiding in the retention of all that has been learned to memory.

Curriculum Overview

The madrasah has developed a curriculum tailored to meet the needs of individual students. The entire syllabus typically takes 4.5 years or more to complete, depending on the individual’s ability and attendance. Students can join from the age of 5 and above. Our curriculum is designed to cover a broad spectrum of topics, divided into four groups: Foundation Course (Level-1), Bridge Course (Level-2), Intermediate Course (Level-3), and Advanced Course (Level-4).

We will cover three main subject areas: Quran, Arabic Language, and Islamic Studies.

  • Quran Lessons: Quranic Arabic (recitation with translation and understanding, Juz 30 Hifz lessons)
  • Arabic Language: Arabic pronunciation, vocabulary, writing, reading, speaking, and listening.
  • Islamic Studies: Hadiths, Duas, Manners and Values, Principles of Islam (Fiqh, beliefs, Five Pillars of Islam), Islamic History (Life of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), his companions, Prophets mentioned in the Quran, and Islamic manners and values (Duas, Islamic environment, family and community awareness).”

Sabaq, Manzil, & Sabaq Dor

  • Sabaq: No mistakes, stucks, or tajweed mistake allowed.
  • Manzil & Sabaq Dor:1 mistake for every 5 pages.
  • Manzil & Sabaq Dor: Every 3rd time stuck is equivalent to 1 mistake.
  • Manzil & Sabaq Dor: 1 tajweed mistake per page.
  • There are no mistakes allowed in the daily sabaq.
  • If a student has 2 mistakes in 5 pages then he will have to repeat all the 5 pages.
  • Student has to pass naazirah before memorization/getting new lesson/sabaq.

FAQs

Q. Will my child be safe whilst in school?
A. Yes. Our first priority is the safety of all the children. No child will be allowed to wander around the school. All pupils will be escorted by the Class Mentor. The School has a swipe card security system which means that no one is allowed in or out of the School without our knowledge.

Q. Will students learn the correct Arabic pronunciation in Arabic Language lessons and Quarnic lessons?
A. Yes. All our teachers will be teaching the Quranic Arabic and Arabic language using the correct pronunciation.

Q. What if my child is 11+ but has no Islamic or Arabic knowledge?
A. Pupils who are of an older age but do not have any prior Islamic teaching will be closely supported by the Teaching Mentors in-class.

Q. How are pupils assessed and what criteria decides which class they will be in?
A. Pupils will be assessed after Registration and again during class time by a qualified teacher. If necessary, pupils will then be moved to a more appropriate class, after a discussion with the parent(s).

Q. Does my child need to bring a packed food with them?
A. Yes. There will be two 5-minute breaks where they will be able to have a snack. We recommend that they bring a piece of fruit and drink (no fizzy drinks please) for the first break and any healthy lihght food for the second. We ask that no crisps or messy foods be brought with them.
